Common Method of Extraction: The common method of extraction of wheat germ oil is done through cold pressing the germ of the wheat seed. Immense weight is applied on the wheat germ. The oil has a shelf life of around 6 to 8months. The chances of the oil degrading are more in wheat germ oil when it is exposed to high temperature. So it is important to store the oil in a cool and dark place.

Aroma: The aroma of the wheat germ oil is quite strong and heavy. When compared to other oils the usage of wheat germ oil in cosmetics is less because of lack of attractive smell. The colour of the oil is amber brown and it has nutty flavour.

Largest Producing Countries: The plant’s origin is United States of America. The crop is now cultivated in South Europe, Turkey, Arabian Peninsula, North Africa, Southwest Asia, and China.  

Traditional Use: The wheat was believed to be planted first in United States of America and from there it spread to other parts of the globe. The history of wheat goes back to 7000 B. C. The proof of wheat has been found in some excavations in eastern Iraq.

Properties: The wheat germ oil has the power to protect cell membranes from oxidation and it work wonders on the skin. The oil has rich source of vitamin E, lecithin, proteins and anti-oxidants.  The vitamin E protects the skin and body from the ill effects of free radicals and it fight heart problems, cancer and untimely aging.
